shop update!

so, it only took me four months after moving to get my etsy shop back open and re-stocked. pat on the back for being productive on the weekend, am i right? whew.

hope you have a great week! mine has to be better than last - i got into a minor fender bender and have to take my car in for repairs tomorrow. it'll be crazy busy at work, too, but at the end of the week is the octopus project show - that's definitely what's getting me through the next seven days.

oh, and happy superb owl sunday!

movin' on up...

woo hoo! only 30 days until i move! there's tons to do before then and lots to pack (i don't think i will ever be done packing - i have way more stuff than i thought possible). to cut down on the number of items i need to pack up and move, i decided to have a sale in the shop! head on over, browse the virtual stacks, and use the coupon code GREATMIGRATION for 25% off your order (shipping not included in discount).

i hope you had a great holiday weekend!

etsy // nook cases

i've been getting acquainted with my nook over the last few days and i'm rethinking my nook cover purchase.

like love the color, but it seems a tad bulky for my taste. i don't care for the flap and extra pocket at all. i want a simple, stylish, and perhaps even humorous sleeve. the best place to find something to fit my parameters? etsy, of course.

the first shop i stumbled upon was nokomomo. how amazing and awesome are these?

the beautiful fabric choices at rogue theory are right up my alley (i spy some anna maria horner book stack fabric - !).

rokitbot offers their sleeves with a sweet wristlet option. i covet the liz lemon-esque glasses fabric so. much. if you're headed to their shop, check out the nerd herder wallets, which are my organized self's dream.

the cases at color creations by danielle london make me so happy. and now i want to have breakfast for dinner tonight.

thanks for shopping with me!

etsy 101

i can hardly believe it, but my little etsy shop reached 101 sales this morning! i was waiting for the big 1-0-0, but a lovely person ordered two items and it jumped to 101 sales in the blink of an eye.

i just wanted to take a minute to express my sincere gratitude to anybody who has purchased an item, browsed through the shop, listened to me prattle on about catherinholm, or given me the encouragement to start and/or carry on with this vintage venture: i am a fan of you.

i feel extremely lucky to be able to do something i truly enjoy. i love every trip to the thrift store and i love every craigslist estate sale planning session. i love finding oddities and treasures in the same dusty corner. i love that i've had to learn how to take better photographs (they're still not great, but they're markedly better). i love waiting in line at the post office for international orders, knowing that i'm getting to connect with customers in ireland, australia, england, france, spain, sweden, canada, norway, and russia. i love knowing that the extra income i've earned payed in full for lola's unexpected (and costly) heartworm treatment. i love knowing that the extra income i will earn is the foundation for a down payment on an arts & crafts style bungalow (one can dream, yes?).

in simple terms, i love. this opportunity. these finds. these people.

thank you.

filed away

i got my new business cards/bookmarks in the mail today and, i have to say, i'm as pleased as punch with how they came out!

here's a close-up of the front:

and the back:

i spent an agonizingly long time designing these (reason #3,728 that i could never be a real graphic designer - i'm ridiculously slow and probably too, how shall i put it?, anal retentive about little things), but i thoroughly enjoyed every single second. i really love the classifications on the back - all are dear to my heart, especially 701.15. if i was ever going to get a tattoo, it would be this dewey classification.

i ordered 500 and i have to admit that it's a bit crazy to think that i'll ever need that many, but positive thoughts, right? these will go out in all filed away orders and to anybody who needs a bookmark (i don't know about you, but i have this weird thing about liking the bookmark that's keeping me from losing my place in a story).

*details: i designed these in adobe photoshop elements 9 and printed them through got print, who i've used as a printer with various work projects.
